Houston Defective Car/Child Safety Restraint Lawyer

"MOTOR VEHICLE INJURIES ARE THE GREATEST PUBLIC HEALTH PROBLEM FACING CHILDREN TODAY"
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

How Safe is Your Child?

Thousands of children each year are catastrophically injured or killed on American Roadways. On some occasions, no design principle would have prevented the tragedy. On the vast majority of others, however, safety designs directed toward protecting children would have prevented these tragedies. Yet the vehicle and child safety industries refuse to take responsibility for these needless injuries and deaths. Instead they choose to routinely blame parents and others for safety problems they have created.

Defective Child Restraints Cause Injury

It is true that, when properly installed, child restraints are more than 70 percent effective in preventing serious injury and death. However, as many as 80 percent of these seats are not properly installed, or worse, are defectively designed or manufactured. Such defective designs cause thousands of deaths and serious head, brain, and spinal cord injuries each year. If your child has been injured because of a defective child restraint, contact Pulaski & Middleman immediately.

Common defects can include:

  • Inadequate Lateral Support
  • Weak or Inappropriate Shell Material
  • Inadequate Warning Labels
  • Confusing Instructions
  • Defective Harness System
  • Lack of Torso Restraint
  • Ill-Fitting Restraints
  • Incorrect Weight Classifications
  • Cumbersome or Awkward Adjustments
  • Insecure Attachment of Shell and Base

Although child restraints must be tested to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Standards 213, the testing criteria are misleading and inaccurate. FMVSS213 testing results are skewed - landing inadequately tested and unsafe child seats in the hands of trusting, but uninformed, consumers.

We can not sit idly by while products with manufacturing and design defects disfigure and kill our children. In this instance, the voice of one can speak loudly and be heard. The manufacturers of defective car/safety seats must be held accountable and must take responsibility for the deaths of the children caused by their products. We must fight until changes are made. Changes that will save future lives and families.
